Elizabeth Banks and Husband Sell Comedy to Fox
Written by on October 10th, 2011

Fox is getting cozy with Elizabeth Banks.

The actress and her author/producer husband Max Handelman have sold a single-camera comedy titled Dave’s Dead to the top rated network. The project, which hails from 20th Century Fox Television, is being billed as Shaun of the Dead meets My Name is Earl.

The couple, who have been married for nearly a decade, will serve as non-writing executive producers on the comedy, joining a growing list of high-profile actors — including Jennifer Lopez, Ryan Reynolds, Natalie Portman and Will and Jada Pinkett Smith — getting involved as producers this development season.

In this case, Eric Siegel and Eric D. Wasserman (Traffic Light, Hard Times of RJ Berger, Roommates) are on board to write and executive produce the project.

Banks, whose on-camera TV credits include 30 Rock and Scrubs, is repped by UTA.

“Man on a Ledge” Release Date Pushed Back
Written by on October 6th, 2011

Summit Entertainment has moved the release date of its thriller, starring Sam Worthington and Elizabeth Banks, from January 13 to January 27.

With the earlier release date, the film would have been up against Universal’s “Contraband,” a thriller starring Mark Wahlberg and Kate Beckinsale. It would have also had to compete with Sony’s “Premium Rush,” a thriller starring the always-strong Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Michael Shannon.

Also set for release that weekend: Disney’s “Beauty and the Beast 3D,” Warner Bros.’ musical drama “Joyful Noise” and The Weinstein Company’s period drama “Coriolanus.”

On Jan. 27, “Man on a Ledge” will be up against Dimension’s horror sequel “The Amityville Horror: The Lost Tapes,” Open Road’s action-drama “The Grey” and Lionsgate’s action comedy “One for the Money.”

“Man on a Ledge” is about an ex-cop-turned criminal, played by Worthington, who threatens to kill himself by jumping from the top of a hotel in New York City. Police send a police psychologist, played by Banks, to talk him down. The police don’t know, however, that the suicide attempt is a ploy to cover up a diamond heist.

Possible Role : The Silver Linings Playbook
Written by on June 26th, 2011

Rumors have been going around that Elizabeth is among a few hollywood actresses for the role of the upcoming film, The Silver Linings Playbook. Check it out:

The next few days may very well determine which actress gets the golden ticket to star in The Silver Linings Playbook, director David O Russell’s follow-up to his Oscar-winning comeback film, The Fighter.

The Weinstein Co. movie again reteams Russell with his Fighter star Mark Wahlberg in the story of a man who suffers from a mental collapse and is released from a health facility determined to find the silver linings in his life.

The hot Hollywood role of the moment is that of a depressed woman who, when her husband dies, goes on a sexual spree, even at the cost of her job. She befriends the man and becomes his love interest.

According to insiders, Russell is intensely screen-testing the following in-demand actresses in Los Angeles starting today and going into the weekend: Elizabeth Banks, Kirsten Dunst, Blake Lively, Rooney Mara, Rachel McAdams, Andrea Riseborough and Olivia Wilde.

Sources also say Jennifer Lawrence may be in the running as well but that is unclear.

Russell is eyeing an August start date.

Elizabeth & Max Welcome Baby Felix
Written by on March 30th, 2011

Elizabeth Banks and her husband Max have recently welcomed a baby boy into their family, Felix Handelman, through a surrogate! Congratulations to the happy family!

I have been very fortunate in life both professionally and personally. I have had untold number of opportunities to work with inspiring people, on great projects as an actress, and I have had a fantastic long term relationship of nearly 20 years with my now husband, Max.

The one true hurdle I’ve faced in life is that I have a broken belly. After years of trying to get pregnant, exploring the range of fertility treatments, all unsuccessful, our journey led us to gestational surrogacy: we make a “baby cake” and bake it in another woman’s “oven”.

From that came two miracles. The first was meeting our carrier and her husband who were truly humbling in their decency and generosity. And the second miracle was the birth of our baby boy, Felix Handelman. Felix means “happy” and “lucky” in Latin. And true to his name, Felix is a very happy baby and a blessing on our life.

We have maintained a great deal of privacy throughout this process, and hope to continue to honor Felix’s privacy going forward.

Thanks to all our friends, family, and fans for your support.

If you need me, I’ll be changing dirty diapers and trying to get some sleep.
