“The Next Three Days” On Blu-ray & DVD In March

Lionsgate Home Entertainment has announced that the thriller THE NEXT THREE DAYS, starring Russell Crowe, Elizabeth Banks, Liam Neeson and Olivia Wilde, will be released in a BD/DVD/Digital Copy combo pack on March 8, 2011. The film follows Lara Brennan (Banks) who is wrongly accused of murdering her boss. When her husband (Crowe) can’t find any evidence to clear her name he decides to break her out so she can rejoin their family.

Weinsteins Closed a Deal for “The Details”

The Weinstein Company is currently closing a deal for worldwide rights to “The Details” starring Tobey Maguire, Elizabeth Banks and Laura Linney.

The dark comedy from writer-director Jacob Aaron Estes (“Mean Creek”) focuses on a couple that spirals into chaos when their new lawn is repeatedly destroyed by raccoons—a plot point . inspired by Estes’ own experience with the creatures in his Echo Park neighborhood.

The film, which premiered Monday, is represented by CAA and UTA. Producers are Mark Gordon, Hagai Shaham and Bryan Zuriff, with Mickey Liddell and Jennifer Hilton as executive producers.

Weinsteins acquire “My Idiot Brother”

Good news for the film “My Idiot Brother” – The Weinsteins have acquired the film and that means that we should be seeing in theaters this year!

The Weinsteins have closed a deal on the Paul Rudd comedy My Idiot Brother and Fox Searchlight is believed to have taken most of the world on Homework as Sundance burst ito life on Sunday.

Jesse Peretz’s comedy (pictured) screened in the Premieres section and stars Elizabeth Banks, Zooey Deschanel and Emily Mortimer. UTA represented worldwide rights. Relativity Media also bid on the film.

Elizabeth Banks negotiating to star in Alex Kurtzman’s ‘Welcome to People’

Elizabeth Banks is negotiating to take on the female lead in Welcome to People, the Dreamworks drama written by Alex Kurtzman, Roberto Orci and Jody Lambert.

Kurtzman will also direct the film, which has Chris Pine (who is on the cover of the new Hollywood Reporter) attached to star as well.

People follows a businessman who returns home after his estranged father’s death and discovers that he has an alcoholic sister with a 12-year-old son. Banks will play the sister.

Kurtzman and Orci (Transformers, Star Trek) are producing through their DreamWorks-based Paper Products banner, along with Bobby Cohen.

Banks, who is repped by UTA and Untitled, most recently appeared in The Uninvited, Role Models and W. She next stars in The Next Three Days, which Lionsgate will release next Friday, and she is currently filming the thriller Man on a Ledge for Summit.

Forthcoming films include The Details opposite Tobey Maguire and Laura Linney, and My Idiot Brother opposite Paul Rudd. Banks is also attached to Tink at Disney and the comedy Forever 21 at DreamWorks.

Elizabeth Banks Lands Man on a Ledge

Actress Elizabeth Banks has landed the female lead in Asger Leth’s upcoming project Man on a Ledge, according to Deadline New York.

Elizabeth Banks will portray an NYPD negotiator who tries to talk Sam Worthington’s character down from a suicide attempt. It is reported that she also had a previous romantic relationship with the suicidal detective, who was framed for a crime he didn’t commit. It’s revealed that the suicide attempt is actually a diversion for his brother (Jamie Bell) to pull off a heist across the street. Anthony Mackie also stars in the movie in an unspecified role.

Asger Leth is directing the movie from a script by Pablo Fenjves. The site reports that Chris Gorak rewrote the script with Erich Hoeber and Jon Hoeber (Red) performing a final script polish.

Man on a Ledge will start production in November on location in New York City.

Man on a Ledge comes to theaters in 2012 and stars Sam Worthington, Anthony Mackie, Jamie Bell, Elizabeth Banks. The film is directed by Asger Leth.
